05. Egmont National Park & Mount Taranaki
Our beautiful mountain is surrounded by a huge national park that offers walks for all abilities and the view from the visitor centre alone is worth the drive up!
Running alongside our rocky coastline is the Coastal Walkway offering over twelve kilometres of walking, running, cycling or skating. The Wind Wand sits on the walkway, near the CBD.
06. World Of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD)
Every March, New Plymouth is home to the World of Music, Arts and Dance, the internationally established festival bringing together a range of music, art and dance.
A Garden of National Significance of over 52ha – the entrance is just under a kilometre from The Metrotel. With a zoo for kids, an amphitheatre for concerts and a cricket oval there’s always something to do!

Taranaki is spoiled for choice when it comes to beaches. We have options just a few minutes away from the CBD, or many to choose from up and down the coast.
